Abdomen Ultrasound

In an Abdominal ultrasound examination the pancreas, aorta, gallbladder, bile duct, liver, kidneys, spleen and surrounding areas are assessed. Patient preparation: This scan requires a four hour fast – nothing to eat, drink, chew or smoke prior to appointment.
Female Pelvis Ultrasound

A Gynaecology ultrasound is performed using a combination of a Transabdominal and Transvaginal scan. The first part of the scan (Transabdominal) requires a full bladder. Transvaginal scan is a gold standard for thorough assessment of the cervix, uterus, ovaries and surrounding areas (an empty bladder and your consent will be required for this examination). A female chaperone will be available with a male sonographer at all times.
Patient preparation: 90 minutes prior to your appointment empty your bladder and then drink 1 litre of water within 30 minutes and hold till your appointment.
Dating Ultrasound

Early pregnancy ultrasound is required to confirm presence, number and viability of embryo/s. Heart beat can be measured from a very early stage. The most accurate due dates are obtained between 8-10 weeks but this scan should be performed as soon as there is any sign of pregnancy. Patient preparation: 90 minutes prior to your appointment empty your bladder and then drink 1 litre of water within 30 minutes and hold till your appointment
Morphology Scan

Morphology scan is a thorough pregnancy ultrasound that looks at your baby’s anatomy and observes the position of the placenta, the umbilical cord and the amniotic fluid around your baby. Also known as ‘anomaly scan’ and this scan should be booked between 20-21 weeks. Patient preparation: 90 minutes prior to your appointment empty your bladder and then drink 1 litre of water within 30 minutes and hold till your appointment.
Renal Ultrasound
15 minutes and up

In a renal ultrasound your kidneys, ureters and bladder are assessed with a full bladder. In addition prostate, seminal vesicles and other structures are assessed for males. Patient preparation: 90 minutes prior to your appointment empty your bladder and then drink 1 litre of water within 30 minutes and hold till your appointment.
Neck, Thyroid & Soft Tissue Structures
15 minutes and up

In a thyroid examination the size, shape and texture of the thyroid are assessed and to determine the presence of any thyroid nodules. In a neck ultrasound the lymph nodes, salivary glands and surrounding soft tissues are also assessed. No patient preparation is required for this examination.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSK)
15 minutes and up

High frequency ultrasound probes are used for clearer imaging of ligaments, tendons, muscles and superficial structures (lumps, hernias etc). Imaging can be done on any part of the body: – Upper body: shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand – Lower body: hip/groin, knee, ankle and foot/heel – Superficial strucutres eg. foreign bodies, lipoma etc.
Ultrasound Guided Injections/Biopsy/Drainage
15 minutes and up
All referrals accepted with a valid Medicare card
Different types of ultrasound guided injections are offered at our clinic. We can administer Cortisone (corticosteroids) which is a powerful anti-inflammatory medication used for the treatment/pain relief for bursitis or joint inflammations. Ultrasound guided fine needle biopsies and aspirations are also offered at our clinic.
Scrotal (Testes) Ultrasound
15 minutes and up

Testicular ultrasound will be provided by a male sonographer and are commonly performed to exclude infections/inflammation, lesions, torsion, palpable lumps and any other abnormalities.
Vascular Ultrasound

Limited vascular ultrasound examinations are provided at this clinic ie. Carotid duplex, DVT’s (blood clots) of the upper and lower limbs.
Paediatric Ultrasound
15 minutes and up

Paediatric ultrasound such as hips for dysplasia, pyloric stenosis, abdomen, renal and lumps/bumps are provided
